I debated last night School of Comms DCU Spring Series in favour of Ireland adopting effective hate speech legislation. There's a lot of hysteria online about how this legislation will 'silence' us and have a chilling effect on public discourse. This is not true. Hate speech law is... 1/3
Strong legislation which can effectively tackle hate crimes and incitement to hatred is a critical part of any modern democracy. Tomorrow, as part of the Dublin City University School of Communications Spring Series, I'll take part in a discussion on the current hate speech legislation.
Great to see so many Dublin City University students and staff come together today to support Palestinian students and call on the university to take a moral stance agains gross violations of international law and human rights
