DA Schmidt joined a press conference today with Mayor Wheeler, PPB Chief Day, and PSU President. This group is committed to protect freedom of speech. But resorting to destructive behavior is unacceptable. Our office will prosecute these cases.

Damaging property, making threats, and perpetrating violence are not acceptable, meaningful, or productive ways to make a point. These are destructive behaviors that harm community members and local businesses.

Our office continues working with PPB and the university to resolve this situation, and we still stand ready to issue charges upon review of evidence provided by law enforcement.
