In this challenging time, we hope New York City can be a candle in the darkness.

Leaders don't run away from problems—we lean in to better understand them, so we can solve them.

I want to thank House Committee on Education & the Workforce and Chair Aaron Bean for convening a hearing on how to combat antisemitism.

This is incredibly important work, and it is only possible if people from all walks of life are willing and able to come together for the greater good.

Let me be clear: when incidents happen we address them with safety, engagement, and education.

That was my message to Congress and that is the work we do every day.

This is a major time in our country right now. Children are suffering all over the globe.

I am focused on taking care of the children of our city, children of dozens of faiths and backgrounds.

We have to see the humanity in each other. We have to meet the moment.

How do we get to the root of hate and ignorance?

Through education, our public schools can and must be the answer.

We must prepare our young people to grapple with the incredibly difficult things happening in the world in meaningful ways.
