Student said 'I don't really like William Carlos Williams very much, but...' and I said 'I'm going to have you killed at dawn, but go on...'

I realized, driving the other day in upstate NY past winter farm fields with the brown remains of last year's crops, that I think 'Anselm Kiefer' before I think 'corn' or 'wheat'...

I went and stood in a door jamb because that's what they do in Buffy the Vampire Slayer where I get all my safety practices.

Did anyone just feel an earthquake in Roxborough!?
I keep expecting such things when I'm in San Francisco but...(I've felt them twice before on the East Coast, once in Philly and once in Ocean City)

Okay, finished Martin Amis' The Zone of Interest. It's quite a book. I recommend it very very strongly. Will likely watch the movie, apparently a very different sort of excellence, tonight.

Small presses formerly distributed by the now-defunct SPD, which I've heard hasn't paid the presses in some time. Please order directly from them. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

Thanks to bookstores, authors, and readers for their patience as we secure new distribution after the dissolution of SPD/Small Press Distribution, with which we worked since our founding in 2001. Always, we encourage you to order books directly from us!

An action or statement dramatized in an essay, poem, or story does not mean that the author endorses the action or statement. It means that the author is showing you something and respecting you enough to think you're smart enough to draw your own conclusions. Duh.

While I was lying in savasana, or relaxation pose, in which I am always having to try not to fight to relax, I thought about how a poet I'm writing about never ever lets his poems relax or otherwise go still and this is part of why I like him so much.

An essay at a magazine, having to do with the war on Gaza, was published then retracted by the editors. A note on the piece says 'A more fulsome explanation will follow.' I'm sure it will be fulsome! These things usually are!

You know...just because he's a candidate that doesn't mean your news organization is obligated to run coverage of him spewing lies. Especially when those lies are in furtherance of crimes already committed. Trump's endgame is not our comfort and safety; it is his.

Glad the FB problem is not just me. For stress relief, I'm posting here two pictures of me from week before last, and my gestures, which I didn't know I do while talking to an audience. Taylor & Co. Books, the sweetest place to read. I didn't supply the epithet but it made me laugh!

Dear University admin emailer: if try to convince me to do something by saying it's 'one of the most impactful steps you can take,' I'll probably respond by thinking about stomping on the stairs & how that hurts my knees and bothers the people I live with.
