the new Myriam Gendron is deeply beautiful as I had hoped- & I really like the tasteful, restrained way that guests drift in n out around the warm solar center of her voice- but- wow- that final solo by Zoh Amba lifts things off into another realm- such a stunning way to close

Gonna do some chip butty tweets. For non UK people, a chip butty is a bap (roll, like a hamburger bun) with some chips (french fries) and a kind of watery fake mayonnaise they call (ugh) 'salad cream.' This is their sandwich, they eat this. Okay ready?

Here are four overlooked albums that Steve Albini recorded that I wanna recommend:

• Johnboy - Claim Dedications (1994)
• Yona-Kit - Yona-Kit (1995)
• The Hosemobile - What Can & Can't Go On (1999)
• A Whisper In The Noise - Through The Ides Of March (2002)

R.I.P. Steve Albini, interviewed him in 2005 and even though he was preparing for a gig he was as generous an interviewee as one could imagine. And alongside Shellac/Big Black, you could make a top 50 albums from records he’s engineered, from Arise Therefore to Riderless Horse.

I think this thread, and the way he behaved and treated people in later years, was one of the most important things anyone who’s meant anything to me ever did. it’s an instruction manual on how to grow out of gen x nihilism and a reflection on the damage it did

Oh good grief, the SXSW London announcement is for June 2025! Can’t be bothered to be even remotely excited about that now.
