180 “school streets” are now open in Paris—of which 126 opened since 2020. These are school-fronting streets that have been transformed from prioritizing car traffic & largely asphalt surfaces to landscaped pedestrian-only or pedestrian-priority spaces.

People often think I’m anti-car.

I’m not against the car. I literally own a car. One that I bought new just a few years ago that I really enjoy driving.

What I’m against is the convenience of the car being at the centre of how we’ve designed our society.

The irony. ‘I need a bigger truck because your big truck makes my smaller truck less safe.’

Reminds me of, ‘I have to drive my child to school because you drive your child to school and the traffic around school isn’t safe.’
