No, people brought their own balloons. I stole the idea from the great broadcaster Jean Shepherd, who called upon his listeners to show up (in hundreds) in short pants with balloons at Nedicks, or Nathan's in Coney Island, or the Eighth Street Bookstore, I forget where.

If you're an illustrator, and feel work of yours might fit with what I'm likely to write, first of all I want to express my sympathy and regret, but also I'd like to hear from you. Very little chance of much profit in this, but we're used to that, aren't we?

I once accepted an impromptu invitation to speak at a library in Columbus, Ohio. I told those inviting me that I would autograph balloons at 11:00 AM at the White Castle next day. Many showed up, including a guy in a chicken suit. (Certain of my readers own chicken suits.)

Lizard Music was my first long fiction book. I had no reason to expect I'd be allowed to do another one. I got to write many more but the next 99 while good were to my mind in some way or other inferior to LM. Imagine how frustrating. Finally number 100 which I like just as well.

I'm pretty happy with B;ue S;y, only want one social whatzis and you do still need an invite code such as bsky-social-ojlpn-zzqfw Counting on it to get much better as it gets much larger, and no icky feelings about the proprietors.

So BlueSky Social, (similar to that which was formerly known as Twitter), assigns a few invite codes to those with accounts, such codes, good for one use, empower those without accounts to open accounts. Here is such a code: bsky-social-ppa5m-sacsf help yourself.

I posted a good-for-one-use invite code which enables one to open an account on bluesky social (sort of like this, but maybe nicer?), and someone used it. This is not the one I posted but a fresh one bsky-social-7icuv-oo57w

I think you need an invite code to open an account on Blue Sky Social, you get one from an account-holder, and they are good for one use. Here's one: bsky-social-bodg4-25rnl good at the time of this posting.

The novel I handed in this past summer will not be published until 2025. Why so long, I asked my good agent. She said, 'That's how things are done now. Gotta go.' I'll give a heads-up if I am still around and compos mentis, and if X is around. Blue Sky Social more likely.
