Coffee break realisation: what I was dreaming of 10 & 15 years ago, I am living today. The next year or so I intentionally focus on crafting current work moment by moment. Curiosity lives at the background: what realisation future me might have 10+ years on?

Great day with our Newcastle group, and a valuable opportunity to connect with new people. Ethnography, impact, behavioural science, de-implementing harmful practice... Lots to reflect on. I look forward to future events and following up from today's conversations.

Good critical thread👇🏻 Difficult questions to answer yes / no - do you get half a score for 'maybe', 'dunno' and 'it depends'? It's not appropriate to quick screen for possible PD. I have a vague sense of what the question tries to ask, but don't we all depend on others, a lot?

New Research Alert 🚨! We're exploring a critical issue: Homelessness among men due to domestic violence and abuse (DVA). If you've experienced homelessness in the UK in the last 10 years and it's related to DVA, we need to hear your story.

Tomorrow, a crucial piece of legislation around healthcare will be scrutinised by MPs.

It will happen in a committee room, away from the main chambers, on a whisper.

If it passes, it will worsen the health of the UK population.

Did you know about it? No?

A thread 🧵

Our individual actions have a greater impact than we think.

Think back to a particular action or behavior you brought to work. What would happen if everyone in your organization repeated that action?

Would that create a culture you’d like to be a part of, or not?

More information in the 🧵 and petition. Rushed actions are the opposite of rapid decision-making. Good guidelines require dialogue, which is only possible with a range of viewpoints and voices (incl. adequate time for public consultation).

Towards 2024 with initial hypotheses. Good to start the new year in the spirit of curiosity and learning. Thank you for the suggestion that helps to focus on continuous improvement, throughout this next year and those that follow.

This one hits the proverbial nail on the head... is not about always feeling comfortable. It's about being comfortable expressing candid, honest observations without fear of reprisal. Great piece from Jessica Davies

We're passing on something of ourselves to others. I feel that's what makes our life full of meaning. It's hard to have meaning in a closet, encapsulated by nothing. I think you really have to expand yourself and your life and do what you can for other people.

Interesting finding from Nicki's work - the coping strategies for vicarious trauma that most (addiction) practitioners find helpful are not helpful for nurses. Hearing this validated a lot of my (mental health) practice experiences. 🤔How can AHPs support nurses meaningfully?

Thank you NIHR ARC North East and North Cumbria & Fuse for inviting this Year 1 Day 4 PhD student to share ideas in today's event. The slide is from Levi Buckley keynote - a lot of opportunity there to align work & collaborate across the system.

I always think I hate tight deadlines, until I have them. Today is a day for various time-limited, focused activities. This is productivity with purpose - just enough time to think while getting stuff done, knowing what can wait to become another day's meaningful challenge.

1/9 🧵There's a growing dialogue around father involvement in the lives of their children. This is not, contrary to some views, an attempt to uphold some sort of patriarchal, nuclear family model. It's about a broader understanding of the roles parents play in child development.
