From now until late summer will be busy building nests & raising chicks on the #heathlands of #DorsetForests

Prior to our Volunteer Wood Wardens enjoying their Christmas Lunch, Landscape Recovery Manager Mark gave an on-site presentation of all the valuable habitat enhancements carried out in #MoretonForest this year under Countryside Stewardship Forestry England Natural England
Our shadow #volunteer program is recruiting for March 2024. The scheme enables individuals to gain experience of managing recreation and forestry. Applications close on 7 January 2024. π³π²

Coppicing β a traditional form of woodland management β plays a key role in providing habitats for wildlife & creating a sustainable source of wood. π
Working with #DorsetCoppiceGroup this work is essential in helping us maintain a healthy and thriving forest.
We were recently joined by students from Kingston Maurward College taking part in a new scheme with our Forest Craftspeople - learning new skills & finding out about the local landscape. They worked together to replace fencing around a geologically important site Kingston Maurward
The team reintroducing white-tailed eagles to England - including a pair settled in Poole Harbour - have published their new blog.
