Sadiq Khan has a 27 point lead in London in today's Ashcroft poll.

We don't yet know the electoral impact of London voters knowing who Susan Hall is.

‘McGowan once summed up his philosophy as following “the Irish way of life, the human way of life. Cram as much pleasure into life and rail against the pain you have to suffer as a result.”

Lots of people asking about access talks...

And when they take place before elections.

So check out this very useful Institute for Gov graphic by Ben Paxton and Jack Worlidge

And then read our explainer by Dr Catherine Haddon for more:

Today I've shared the latest Tony Blair Institute for Global Change Russia update with stakeholders. I was very kindly assisted by Jacob Delorme & Jemima Shelley. It covers a wide range of areas but aims to give a sense of how things have been developing inside Russia over the last month. Key points 👇:

Spoke to Peter about the fact that immigration is an issue that – so far in 2023 at least – is only rising in salience among a sub-section of voters.

Along with the forecast fall in numbers, means immigration is now a bigger headache for the Conservatives than Labour.

🚨🇬🇧🇪🇺🚨This week's 'Britain after ' looks at why Sunak can't embrace offers to 'fix' Brexit -- like a Youth Mobility deal -- because of toxic climate around migration his party has created. So VDL's emollience is met with Brexit braggadocio 1/2

And this week's chart, via Alan Wager YouGov shows how Keir Starmer will have an easier time. Labour voters, post , take a more nuanced approach on migration issues...in contrast to Tories who have been driven so far up the tree, they're now stuck. 2/2

There is an age element too: it found that almost 2 in 5 young people reported receiving this advice, compared to 1 in 10 people aged 50+.

At least partially explained by the increased demand for child and adolescent mental health, which has risen by 53% between 2019-22

1 in 7 (!!!) respondents reported that an NHS professional has advised them to consider paying for a private service in Healthwatch England report

An absolutely damning statistic for a health service that famously prides itself on equity & accessibility - two-tier system by stealth

As they don't take into tactical voting the result on current data would actually be worse. E.g. this MRP has the Tories winning Esher and Walton which they will very likely not because of Lab to Lib tactical voting.

Somewhat surprised & delighted to have mine & Alan Wager's paper praised by Sir Peter Riddell. You can read the paper he recommends here:

TL;DR: preparing for government is a tough task. Labour should work hard on it & the PM should grant access talks

Great to speak to the The New Statesman as part of their Path to Power series looking at Labour’s route in to government.

We covered the future of democracy, Liverpool dockers, planning reform, a Merseyside education, artificial intelligence and more👇

Interesting side-point from @proftimebale re conservative sister parties in EU. Recalling how Cameron quit EPP (which left him out of loop on key decisions in Eurozone)...something which David Davis refused to do in Tory election campaign. How times have changed/soured.

With some dubious push polling on immigration doing the rounds today, seems like a good time to re-up this thread of mine from last week, giving an overview of the big long term trends in immigration attitudes here in Britain
