Our prisons should not hold more than 79,507 people. They currently hold 87,973.

Seven prisons are at 150+% capacity.

You can’t improve a human in conditions like that. You can’t rehabilitate. You can’t reform.

We are simply warehousing people, at huge expense, before release.

Fantastic to see this case study by mental health occupational therapist Dr Catriona Connell who is a Research Fellow in Stirling university. Her PhD was funded by an NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship.
