As chairman of the Central Comity of the CCP, Hua Guofeng was the first chinese top leader to visit France in 1979 under Giscard d'Estaing's presidency. At this occasion, he paid tribute to Zhou Enlai who lived in Paris before the foundation of the CCP in 1921.

Coming this fall GW History Department: excited to be teaching 'History of Chinese Communism'! This course will focus on the history of the CCP, how the party understands its own past, and how it functions today.
