Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s rule now represents a dramatic backslide to the Mugabe era, as underlined by controversial constitutional amendment which now allow him to handpicked the nation's vice-presidents, appoint judges almost arbitrarily and extend their tenure.

That's what Mugabe used to think until he was ousted by Mnangagwa via a coup.
Ironically, Mnangagwa now thinks he is invincible, just like Mugabe: delusions of invincibility.
Dictators never learn, hence they always repeat the same mistakes. Where are ED's advisers in all this?

Zanu PF versus ANC: The Cold War. Time for SA govt to realise that without engaging robustly and telling the Zim regime in its face it has become a regional problem nothing will change.
Quiet diplomacy won't work, but forthright engagement is key.

Zim journalist Hopewell Chin'ono freed after 45 days in jail has shown real freedom is not just being out of jail, but free from the prison of fear, while still able to move freely.

Zim's political power struggles: Mnangagwa versus war veterans.
The land question was mishandled, hence it refuses to go away, and is now mixed with power politics.
Mugabe did the right thing the wrong way for political survival. Mnangagwa now badly entangled on the land issue.

Despite their wrong moves supporting the coup, if only most of Zim President Mnangagwa's advisers could be this bold and outspoken, the country would be in a better position to resist tyranny, but the problem is some of them are appalling apologists, cowards and fortune-hunters.

WARNING: Let's be very careful with Barcelona fans this morning; they are irritable and can deliver this aggressive Somali-punch to you after their team's 8-2 defeat to Bayern last night.

Well i don't know what else I have got to do Mduduzi Mathuthu to help you, been so busy on SABC, eNCA, radio and TV stations in SA and overseas media fighting your battles, but then you send me a Twitter message asking me what am I doing about your situation? Kanti vele ufuna ngenzeni?

Even though Mnangagwa's corrupt, incompetent and brutal regime pretends to be deaf, the message has got home: it' repression, violence and misrule are simply unacceptable.
Denying Hopewell Chin'ono bail as they did again today and hunting down Mdu Mathuthu won't change reality.

Like Nigerian citizens' simple, yet very meaningful and profound logic when it comes to governance and public affairs.
This is basically what Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his regime, in fact many other African leaders and their governments, don't understand.

I'm tired of commenting on Mnangagwa and his rule, but then look who he has appointed Health minister: Constantino Chiwenga, his co-deputy.
Simply because he wants to appease him for his own political survival. But appeasement doesn't work in high-stakes power struggles.

Can anyone out there with direct access to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa send this video by former South African President Jacob Zuma to him.
Mnangagwa clearly needs some lecture on democracy (particularly on protests) from Msholozi; a good man, minus Guptas corruption.

Mnangagwa's address to the nation in the wake of a global storm against his corrupt and incompetent regime ruining the economy and perpetrating gross human rights abuses; trending under , was truly pathetic.
It was as if he had just arrived from Mars.
