iPhone : The European Parliament has been closely following the presidential elections in #Belarus. I am deeply concerned by the violence used against people peacefully demonstrating their desire for change.

Read the full statement:

iPhone : I call on President Lukashenko to stop the violence and immediately release those who have been detained. The people of #Belarus have a right to protest. The use of brutal force by the state authorities should have consequences according to international law.

Twitter Web App : On #YouthDay2020 I want to look back at the commitment and solidarity shown by our young people during the darkest days of the pandemic.

You should feel proud of yourselves. I think from this we can see the birth of a different kind of Europe.

iPhone : Freedom of expression and protest are fundamental principles in Europe.

Violence and repression of peaceful demonstrators in #Belarus is unacceptable and must stop. The transparency of the electoral process must be ensured.

iPhone : Shocked by the tragic events in #Beirut. Our thoughts are with all those killed and injured in the explosion, their families, and helpers on the frontline. The European Union stands in solidarity and is ready to support in these difficult hours.

Twitter Web App : John Hume saw that lasting peace could only be built through empathy, tolerance, and democracy. He was a member of our Parliament for 25 years and his contribution to Europe will never be forgotten. The thoughts of the whole European Parliament are with his family and friends.

Twitter Media Studio : Remembering must never become a hollow act, it requires constant effort and will. We have to combat anti-Gypsyism at every level and continue to protect the values that underpin EU integration.

My message for the European Holocaust Memorial Day for Sinti and Roma. #NaBister

Twitter Web App : Access to internet must be recognised as a new human right. Lack of internet is a major cause of marginalisation, with children without access during lockdown being denied their right to education. The European Parliament is ready for this challenge. eptwitter.eu/qsMy

Twitter Web App : At the end of this extraordinary plenary debate, I wanted to thank all the political groups, the interpreters, and all those working in the European Parliament.

By keeping Parliament at work, we have helped ensure the European Union could continue to work.

Twitter Media Studio : The #EUCO has confirmed our vision of a common European response. For the European Parliament now there are three main issues to improve: governance of the recovery fund, own resources and MFF. We cannot cut in areas like research or Erasmus that are key to younger generations.

Twitter Media Studio : The European Parliament is ready to examine the #EUCO agreement carefully and constructively, with peoples' interests and revitalising the EU as its point of reference.

Twitter Web App : This is an unprecedented agreement between governments to revive the European economy. We must now work to improve these instruments, we won't give up on a more ambitious MFF and clarity on new own resources. The European Parliament will work to protect the interests of EU citizens.
