We celebrated 4 years of East London Cares this weekend. Thank you to everyone that has made our community such a special place for connection, togetherness, and fun.

Ask East London Cares about the folklore of the trees and plants of Mile End cemetery park, and we could tell you all about the mugwort and ash tree, and more. Thank you Claire from @fothcp for a super interesting and informative afternoon.

Love Your Neighbour friends, Liz (36) & Archie (81), first met at a Social Club last year, and have been great friends since!

Last week we joined up with North London Cares at the Volunteering Service fair!

One student told us how she lived with her grandparents in Italy but moved here to study so was missing them a lot. She was keen to meet other older people in London and share their wisdom with each other.

Introducing new Hackney friends, Maqbool (69) & Sarah (30).

The Love Your Neighbour friends had a great introduction visit chatting about acting, records & languages. Older neighbour Maqbool has even persuaded Sarah to try some karaoke together during their next visit!

Long-standing Love Your Neighbour friends, Charlie (27) and Teresa (77), enjoyed the last of the British summer by having a trip to Margate! 🍦

The Clapton friends are going strong and will be celebrating two years of friendship in December. 🫶🏽

Longstanding Love Your Neighbour friends Sid (95) and Milly (28), got together to celebrate Sid’s 95th birthday! 🎉

The Clapton friends met at one of our Social Clubs three and half years ago, and have had a beautiful and special friendship ever since.

Another snapshot of our wonderful tour of the Tate Modern led by younger neighbour Joe. We are looking forward to our next neighbour-led social club, it is always so special to learn more about our community and their own passions & interests, so lovely when they want to share!

Stamford Hill friends, Wally (92) and Katie (36), were introduced on our Love Your Neighbour programme back in March 2022 for some one-to -one friendship.

Older neighbour Wally, shared with us how they occasionally both like to have an evening drink together!

East London Cares and recently started to also volunteer with the Tate as he loved all things art, so he wanted to share his passion with the neighbours - aren’t we lucky!
