A lovely retirement gift from headteachers in Tower Hamlets; it is a very special place to work and be politically active, and I will find a special place to hang this. Thank you Lorraine Flanagan Maria Lewington and all your colleagues 🫡

The Govt’s 4.5% pay offer was rejected by all four teaching unions as inadequate and because it wasn’t fully funded. Since then, ministers haven’t even spoken to us about a way to resolve our dispute.

The responsibility for these strikes lies with them. Gillian Keegan MP must…

Highlights from today's London strike demo.

If Gillian Keegan MP wants to stop the strikes, she must restart talks, publish the STRB report & fully fund a decent pay rise that starts to halt the crisis.

A few things to point out here: Many schools already have Oracy lessons, the timetable is full so what will be dropped, recruitment and retention problems abound, will you honour the 6.5% pay rise recommended by the STRB, will you increase school funding?

We have been calling for serious talks for months. We have been told to wait for the recommendations of the 'independent' pay review body. Teachers and leaders are still waiting. Stop treating the profession with contempt.

Teacher pay is a only symptom of the problems education is facing. The cause is the systematic underfunding of our schools, causing a recruitment and retention crisis which will take a generation to overcome.

You have the power to solve this.
