Recently, a few authors with debut books have asked me for advice about small press book promotion, and I'm remembering how I felt last year. I knew nothing about publicity, and it felt so daunting. Here's a couple things I learned (a 🧵):

Not every character has to be “likable,” but readers SHOULD still care about them. Here’s a simple trick that will instantly make them feel more human & get readers to connect w/ them on a deeper level.
