The current Supreme Court is to previous Supreme Courts as the current Republican Party is to previous Republican Parties. You can't say anything worse than that.

It's long-past time to stop pretending that the Supreme Court is some kind of virtuous entity that floats above politics and rules on the merits. Congress needs to put in place stringent ethics rules and be honest about the fact that our courts are full of partisan hacks, too.

I always say this, but it's still true: If the town drunk at your local tavern nattered on like this at the end of the bar, you wouldn't be surprised, you wouldn't pay attention, and you wouldn't vote for him for President.

It's instructive to see how Speaker Mike Johnson, that uber-pious, Scripture-referencing Christian, thinks nothing of bearing false witness when it comes to talking about illegal aliens voting. It's almost like he's a hypocrite or something!
