Yesterday morning I posted a tweet of me canvassing for Sadiq Khan and he retweeted. Since then as I have been tagged I have been shocked by the Islamophobic and racist abuse he receives. That people can be so openly Islamophobic is a heartbreaking indictment of our society.

As a woman, once an adolescent girl, what struck me in the findings of the Cass review is huge over representation of adolescent girls, body image and potential impact of social media. How men in positions of relative power still make it about them stuns me……or maybe it doesn’t

This is a thoughtful and balanced response to a thoughtful and balanced review. I have argued for so long that the complex debate on Gender identity needs move away from politically combative extreme language. I am starting to feel we may finally get there.

Flags are lazy and simplistic and rarely unify - we need to reclaim patriotism by redefining it and it’s not by flag waving. It’s something that successive Labour leaderships have failed to grapple with effectively.
