Born on this day in 1937, Roy Vernon. Blackburn Rovers & Everton had this brilliant forward at his best before he moved to Stoke City FC &, finally, Gt. Harwood. 32 appearances for FA WALES / Wales 🏴 - including at the 1958 World Cup. David France & I wrote about him:

The speedy right winger won the FA Cup with EFC in 1933. His memoir was written with Dr John Rowlands of Everton FC Heritage Society . More on Albert, here:

Johnny Holt, the brilliant & cunning centre-half, known as Everton’s “Little Devil”, was born on this day in 1865. A league champion & England international. Later at Reading FC & ran a mineral water business.
