Such a brilliant initiative. Australiaā€™s first dementia friendly forest and sensory trail. A safe space for those living with dementia to connect with nature.

Last year we sent out hundreds of ā€œsunflower cardsā€ with seeds attached, to spread the word about Voluntary Assisted Dying.
If you planted one of these seeds from ā€˜Jimā€™sā€™ garden, and it has grown, please send us a photo with a few words.

There are so many health benefits that we can derive from nature connection.
Emma tells us we can achieve these benefits without being fully immersed in the bush especially important for those with a terminal illness.

You donā€™t have to be physically present to benefit from nature- just the image and natural sounds can have a calming effect.

The 4 gums
ā€œTheyā€™re like sentinels in my life I go & sit there underneath them & just listen to them & the birds ā€“ the galahs and kookaburras & rainbow lorikeets ā€“ but itā€™s the sound of the wind in those trees Just the knowledge of their existence is a very centring thing for meā€

Just as birth doulas provide support at the start of life, so end-of-life doulas have a valuable role to play in supporting people at the other end of lifeā€™s journey. Wonderful to learn about the work of Nicole Grundy and others!
