Just passed Styford Hall on the Tyne outside Corbridge. It was formerly the home of Sir Percy Loraine (1880-1961) - the last of the Northumbrian Loraine baronets - and formerly our man in Egypt, Turkey and Italy. While in Ankara he became close friends with Atatürk himself.
