Realise I’m privileged to be able to work hard in job I love to generate enough to afford this bike.

It has saved many emissions & euros… but real reason I invested? For time it bought me, to work & spend with my child 🩶

Grandad ByCycle was a time-triallist, my first coach (‘get to the next tree!’); our childrens’ #1 cycling encourager. He once rode Paris-Plymouth in one go, only napping on the Dieppe ferry.

Absolutely agree. Why should somebody continue to legally drive who has knowingly driven when impaired through drink or drugs? Their selfish and criminal actions cost the lives of 235 people in road crashes during 2022 (the last full year analysed). We need action and change.

As my last local government stint ended, I told a schools conference they were largely wasting their time on travel plans unless the local authority actually changed the streets. I still stand by this and it's so sad because the schools and especially the kids know what's needed.

Fascinating walk down Granby St, Leicester. It’s full of bikes, almost all food delivery riders. Interesting sub-culture! Bikes typically have zero carrying capacity, a rear hub motor (some huge ones!) and motorbike pogies. I wonder what Dutch riders would make of these beasts!
