TV writers tend to overstuff their pilot, likely because they're afraid there may not be a second episode. You have more of a chance of one, if you keep things crisp, unique and with a great hook.

STORIES ARE ALL ABOUT CHANGE.

1. Stories are about characters.

2. Characters experience conflict.

3. Conflict leads to change.

We let writers know about HBO wanting a certain kind of script. And people passed loglines & synopsis to us; we asked for a few scripts, read them and passed them to HBO. How is that not how it's done? That's exactly how anyone with contacts in places writers need them does it.

Keep writing until each script is so true and important to you that you feel it was worth writing whether it sells or not.

Focus on getting those scripts to producers whose whose tastes match your own.

And put your focus on the relationship, rather than the sale.

When you're writing your characters, who do you hear in your mind?

Things in the TV biz may not be as they used to be & may never fully be that way again. Part of the biz is learning to adapt to change, which is constant, & reframing things so that you can succeed in new ways. I don't have all the answers but it takes tact, ambition & risk.
