#BetterTogetherGCS | Dr. Jill Biden is visiting GTCC | Guilford Technical Community College to discuss the importance of classroom to career education initiatives across the country. Dr. Whitney Oakley spoke out on how GCS implements these pathways.

#GrowingInGCS | The Oak Ridge Elementary jump rope team recently participated in their first competition. Seven students placed among the top five of their age group! 🏅
#LearningInGCS | Sedgefield Elementary held its annual Family Science Night this week. Families were able to meet with teachers and explore hands-on science experiments, while also enjoying a pizza dinner! 🧑🔬
#LearningInGCS | Southern High science teacher Mark Case took his students outside to view the eclipse this week. He provided the necessary equipment so they could enjoy this historic, scientific moment safely. ☀️

#GrowingInGCS | Today, GCS held its EC Spring Transition Fair! Students came out to the NC Cooperative Extension to visit with colleges, trade schools, employers and community partners. This was a fantastic opportunity for our learners to explore options for after high school. 💙
#BetterTogetherGCS | This week our Classified Employee Advisory Council met with GCS leaders to voice their thoughts. By working together with Superintendent Dr. Oakley, this council will help achieve our mission of making our district the best place to learn, work and grow. 💙

#GrowingInGCS | Rising kindergarteners are getting ready to grow in GCS! At our Kindergarten Kickoff, soon-to-be students and their guardians were introduced to their schools. While adults asked questions, children enjoyed their Kinder'garden' Grow Together coloring book. 🌱
#GCSCelebrates | Congratulations to our students from across the district who were recognized at Congresswoman Kathy Manning's Sixth District Congressional Art Competition. Kayden Friddle from Weaver Academy earned first place with their piece, 'Spectrum.'
#LearningInGCS | Southwest Middle students in Sara McPherson's 7th grade CTE classes had a visit from the company 'Stay Plugged In.' They educated groups about artificial intelligence technology in gaming as a part of the computer graphics and gaming technology module.
#GrowingInGCS | Scholars in Parkview Elementary's lunch and learn program took a field trip to Heads Up Barber & Beauty in Greensboro. They received VIP treatment, with haircuts, lunch and grooming lessons. ✂️
