Possibly one of my last ever retweets, as I'm leaving Musktopia at the end of the month. Because we all need a hefty dose of optimism in these dark times.

Much of the energy transition will be funded by borrowing because the infrastructure it creates will be used by future generations. It's cheaper for the government to borrow than corporations or households. And inflation is falling rapidly.

The case for some reframing of the plan is reasonable. Those briefing it should be ditched altogether should be asked what, exactly, their plan is to revive a moribund economy, meet climate goals, and ensure the UK remains competitive.

This all sounds extremely misguided, both politically and economically. Also the ‘Bring Bills Down Act’ is a truly terrible name. theguardian.com/politics/2023/…

Time for Labour to start focusing on the wider economic benefits the Green Prosperity Plan will bring.
