We were delighted to go on our annual visit to the UK Supreme Court with our Year 1 Public Law students this morning. This year’s visit was even more special as we had many 16-18 year old students with us too, aspiring to study Law, from our Lewisham Law Challenge initiative.

I’ve just read President O’Leary’s speech from her press conference yday on eve of opening of Judicial Year: measured, evidence-based, and exuding Court’s cosmopolitanism in highlighting the centrality of the subsidiarity principle and inherent value of judicial dialogue.

Extraordinary day for the idea of an international rule of law. Surely the ICC cannot avoid being next? Int law breaks with its global north parents, not rebellion so much as a relocation to a place where legal integrity has meaning.
