.Martinsville Speedway is unique, in that it has asphalt straightaways and concrete corners. Goodyear's goal with its tread compounds is to lay rubber in the corners, which (1) creates fall-off early in the race and (2) opens up a second racing groove as drivers search for grip.

NASCAR Cup teams are leaving pit road to start the race at Richmond Raceway. They will be starting on wet weather tires.

Stage breaks in tonight's 400-lap NASCAR Cup race at Richmond Raceway will be at lap 70 and lap 230.

As per NASCAR rules at Richmond, if NASCAR deems the track is wet, they will throw a caution for all teams to put on wet weather tires. Once NASCAR decides the track is dry, they will throw another caution for all teams to put on slicks. No team will lose spots under the cautions

Under dry conditions, Richmond Raceway is a high tire wear track, so teams should see plenty of fall-off over the course of a run. Tire wear brings tire management into play for the drivers and creates more 'comers' and 'goers' throughout the field, leading to more passing.
