About the green bubble. U.S. Department of Justice main point is Apple degrades Android messaging and makes its own platform less secure (no encryption) to hurt competitors. I've heard TV questioning why the G even cares about the green bubble, but that's why.
I think U.S. Department of Justice is on thin ice here by saying that Apple can control inferior web apps by forcing all iOS apps to use its WebKit browser engine. iOS and Apple HW is highly optimized for WebKit which translates into faster performance and better battery life.
Et tu MacOS? This one kind of stings. U.S. Department of Justice complaint says Apple is able to maintain secure Macs--yet allows them to be open to third-party apps--which undercuts arguments that iOS must be walled off. TLDR; if MacOS can do it, why can't iOS?
Another example of monopolist behavior cited by U.S. Department of Justice is Apple ONLY allowing Apple Pay to access the iPhone NFC tap-to-pay feature. Why? A piece of $200 billion in transactions (15 basis points while Samsung and Google charge 0) and to protect its monopoly, DOJ sez.
