How much should we value 'soft' outcomes like subjective experience of residents/fellows? I stumbled across this systematic review from last year again, and instead of rehashing the argument will just quote the old thread with a shoutout to the article:

3 women physicians in NEJM: 'We couldn’t expect to both have a healthy pregnancy and successfully complete residency with our peers.'

Their pregnancies were decades ago, and progress has been made, but this still rings so true.

I need to dive into this further, but raises a good question about what global minimum requirements versus local minimum requirements for residency training should look like. And how do we make sure that programs aspire to more than bare necessities?
