We started working with Piranhas
in Jan, by the end of the year they’ll have worked with Y1 up to Y6 . Today the Mighty Oaks had a special session where they focused on swim safety wearing the PJs learning how to stay safe and what to do if they find themselves in trouble.

The Tiny acorns had a wonderful time in the natural classroom. The numerous dandelions made great pictures when we used the mallets!

Well they smashed it this week and ended it on a high making their own thick milkshakes- whatever flavour they chose although not sure why nobody fancied pickle and bacon milkshake??? It has been a joy to spend the week with them!

There are so many puns I could use for this post but I shall resist and remain professional- the acorns learnt about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores in one of today’s challenges by investigating some big poos!

The sun was shining but there were no sun beds so this acorn built himself one- I love that he tested if it was strong enough to hold his weight ☀️

The Oaks learned about superstar Liverpool footballer Mohamed Salah who grew up in the small Egyptian Village Nagrig, we compared rural Egypt to urban Egypt then compared the city of Liverpool to our Cumbrian village Grayrigg. We ended the day with a performance from the Mighty Oaks.

Very, very excited about this project being led by the Oaks. They have been studying tessellation in their art and have been inspired by the work of Jason Panda so have decided to create an art installation in school. Can’t wait to watch it grow

The Mighty Oaks planned and led today’s RE lesson with lots of practical and messy learning about ascension for everyone. They’re so patient, kind and supportive with the younger pupils. Carlisle Diocese Board of Education

When life gives you lemons…. Learn to juice them even if it’s really hard! This Tiny Acorn really persevered with squeezing the lemon juice and chopping the lemons- these skills help her develop her hand and finger muscles ready for writing.

A busy group of Tiny Acorns decided to explore the fabric: cutting, adding decorations and finding ways to hold pieces together. Making blankets, pillows and skirts- I like the brown skirt with a pocket! Lovely to see them checking they would fit them and making adjustments!

Whatever the weather we use the field area, all the children have wellies in school so nothing can stop us. On the field we have large loose parts play, small world and role play, the games area/football pitch, the dig pit, the mud and texture zone, lots of open space!

Loved seeing these pictures of these two Tiny Acorns working together at the Woodwork area. They had a brilliant idea to make snowflakes and don’t they look great. True friendship is holding the wood whilst your friend hammers!!😂

Over the last 18months we’ve worked with the children adding areas to the playground to make sure there is something for everyone to do. The ethos leaders have suggested sharing some of these so you can see how much there is to do. Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) CIC Jess Swinfield

Another adventure week- this time it is the Acorns turn. Today they ventured out to Little Langdale before exploring the mines and tunnels. After this they drove to Tilberthwaite and explored the ghyll. Everyone pushed themselves outside their comfort zones and did amazingly.
