Busy day. We built an insect house using recycled materials. We made natural bird feeders by upcycling birch logs, drilling holes & filling them with perch branches, birdseed, raisins & lard. Join us for some great activities at Grow Speke this week.
We're making birdfeeders & bug hotels & doing some maintenance on our seating on both Tues & Thurs. Thursday's horticulture course may be moved to The Reach in the event of bad weather.

When he isn't at Grow Speke, Ian Jones is busy making a massive difference in other areas of Merseyside.
The forest school he delivers for a primary school in #ellesmereport has had a huge impact on the lives of children at Rivacre Primary School Primary School. Brilliant work Ian. 👏👏

This week at Grow Speke 😀

Delighted to tell you that we are open as normal today. Despite its best efforts, the weather hasn't beaten us! We'll be doing mulching and weeding, with our Horticulture Course running from 12pm-1pm with Myerscough College

We will be closed today on the grounds of safety.
The overnight snow and ice has made the pathways slippy and dangerous to walk on.
We'll monitor the weather & make a decision early each day on whether it's safe to open & safely carry out this week's planned activities.

Tomorrow (Thurs 7th) we'll be doing general site maintenance in morning. In afternoon we'll be hosting our 'Introduction To Horticulture' course with
Myerscough College. There'll also be another chance to make your own wreath & reindeer Xmas decorations.
