Dr. D.R. Bhandarkar (1875-1950) was an archeologist & epigraphist of ASI.

Son of Dr. R.G. Bhandarkar, he excavated the city of Nagari near Chitor.

His observations on Mohanjodaro being 'no more than 200 years old' is one of the greatest gaffes in archeology.

Actually I heard Peddaballapuram when Telugus were speaking among themselves in Ghati Subrahmanya , Doddaballapura. Usually in border areas placenames have multiple names . One in Telugu and another in Kannada. People use respective names in while speaking in that language
