The worst psychotic disorders in teenage males I have seen in my career as a psychiatrist were in the context of intense cannabis use. Cannabis use and the developing brain do not go well together.

Can you be a serious scientist and serious science communicator at the same time? Someone told me these are incompatible and that’s I hope not how the world works.

Controversial idea some projects I’ve been working on is leading me to consider:

“Heavy cannabis use is more risky in general for psychotic disorders than psychedelics are.”

Anyone know of any lit trying to categorize the number of psychedelic uses in one's lifetime? Or discuss what the distribution might even look like...

Lifetime use (yes or no) is probably not the best variable, but many survey studies seem to rely on it.

Working on a few new psychosis & psych papers/projects & the more I get into it...the more interesting I find pop culture's fascination with psychs & psychosis...
