The Royal Navy's HMS Trent has successfully seized two shipments of drugs with a street value of £16.7m in the Caribbean.

The seizures included cocaine and other drugs which were taken from traffickers during two separate raids.

HMS Trent conducted two operations in the Caribbean, seizing almost 200kg of cocaine and other drugs.

The drugs have a street value of nearly £17m.

The warship launched fast sea boats, piloted by Royal Marines of 47 Commando, to intercept the speedboat, and detain the crew.

Following defence engagement activity in Martinique, HMS Trent has made further successful drug busts. Two recent operations. resulted in the interception of narcotics worth c£16.7 million.

With another daring raid, the crew of HMS Trent and the Marines of 47 Commando (Raiding Group) Royal Marines are continuing to dismantle the operations of criminal drug traffickers.

Having now seized hundreds of millions in drugs, I thank all those involved for helping to keep illegal drugs off British streets.
