I was delighted to facilitate the ‘Stronger Together’ roundtable in Newcastle today. Bringing together religious & community leaders from across the region, we saw inspired discussion of how local leaders can help identify, prevent & respond to domestic, family & sexual violence.

Since Justice Lee delivered his landmark judgment last week in the Bruce Lehrmann defamation trial, I’ve been pleased to see widespread discussion of the trauma-informed approach that underpinned it. This sets an important precedent for the legal system & the wider community.

I welcome Federal AG Mark Dreyfus’s call for men to step up to address the crisis of male violence in Australia.

I am deeply saddened by the tragedy in Bondi over the weekend. It was a shocking crime and a senseless loss of life. My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and all those who responded at the scene with such skill and compassion.

Great to see that the Rentstart Bond Loan Scheme has been expanded so people fleeing domestic & family violence can now access an interest-free loan of between 25% & 100% of their rental bond to secure a tenancy.
