Harrow Law Centre is 14 years old today. From our humble beginnings in just one room we now have a team of 20. Over that time we have represented thousands of local people, preventing evictions and holding public bodies to account. Sadly there is more need for our services now.

A court has awarded our client £49,534 in damages against their landlord. The sum includes amounts for harassment, direct discrimination and a breach of the deposit rules. It should be a lesson to all landlords, unlawful actions against your tenants can be very costly.

Our client was refused DLA for her disabled child and also refused carer's allowance. We represented the family at a tribunal and the tribunal agreed the decision of the DWP was wrong. Our client has been awarded backdated benefit amounting to just under £7000.

The Supreme Court is to deliver its judgement on 15/11 on whether the government can continue with its plan to deport people to Rwanda who are fleeing persecution or have been trafficked. The Court of Appeal previously held the scheme unlawful as Rwanda was not a safe country.

Tenants in a block in Harrow were living with damp and mould for months. With the landlord failing to take action, our housing campaigner and lawyers put pressure on Harrow Council to take enforcement action. An improvement notice was served, and the repairs finally completed.

It has taken an hour to get through to Harrow council to make a request for an urgent repair for a vulnerable client. This is really not good.
