Very happy to report that my bill AB 1898 to deny early release credits to criminals who prey on our kids, has just passed the Assembly Public Safety Committee this morning. Looking forward to continuing to work with Chair Kevin McCarty moving forward.

My bill, AB 1892, to streamline the warrant process for investigating child predators, just passed the Assembly Public Safety Committee.

Introduced the second bill in a two-bill effort to make it easier to catch and NOT release predators that prey on our kids. AB 1892 streamlines the search warrant process for catching child predators, and AB 1898 makes them ineligible for early release credits.

It was an absolute honor to MC this morning’s press conference in support of youth tackle football. The public pushback against AB 734 has been so strong that the Governor just announced he will not sign this bill even if it passes the State Assembly. #SaveYouthFootball

Today I wrote this letter to an advocacy group that tried to torpedo good faith negotiations on good legislation.

This morning we tried to bring up SB 14 (Grove) child sex trafficking bill to the Assembly floor for a vote and were blocked by a procedural motion. The good news is (as we speak) SB 14 just passed the Assembly Public Safety Committee. It was a messy process, but a good outcome.

It’s always an honor to visit and chat with upcoming leaders in California’s agriculture sector about how the Legislature works, and what they can do to make an impact on the lawmaking process.

Any Assembly Bills (ABs) that didn’t pass before today’s deadline are effectively dead. Thankfully that list of dead bills includes some bad ones. Unfortunately some bad bills did pass and are now headed to the Senate. To see a bill’s status, go here: leginfo.legislature.ca.gov

It was an honor to be included among the guest speakers at the The Maddy Institute annual event in support of various programs, including those that provide SJ Valley students the opportunity to work in legislative offices of both parties at the State Capitol over the Summer.

Another problem solved with bipartisan efforts and overwhelming support from all of you. The Valley and Sierra communities are finally being heard up in Sacramento. This is only the beginning.
