Town were perilously close to relegation from the Conference in 1996/97, needing points from both champions-elect Macclesfield then Stevenage. 3:1 down to Macc 30/04/1997 they rallied through Geoff Horsfield then Kevin Hulme grabbed a 85th minute equaliser. Halifax Courier report
