The deal is glorious, and so damn gratifying. Unlike previous negotiations, there were significant if not groundbreaking gains in every single area: theatrical, streaming, ad-supported streaming, linear television, foreign residuals, writing teams.

A warning: there is a tendency of some clickbait journalists to move the goalposts on a WGA win. If Management gave us something, then of course they were always going to give it. But of course that’s a lie. The same Clickbait journalists insisted that the WGA would never win.

This bears repeating over and over and over. I’ve heard from 3 executive friends that the WGA had never countered to the AMPTPs offer. That the WGA negotiating committee is in over their heads. So you have to repeat this timeline as often as necessary so it eventually sinks in.

I hate amplifying this shit more than necessary but I’m going to in this case because it’s instructive as to how studio propaganda works. So, I happened to be in a captain’s meeting with Keyser and Goodman when this story broke, and they addressed it directly.

it appears “the alliance of showrunners” is an alliance of two showrunners, who are allied with the guild, with all the other showrunners
