XS421 first flew on 25th February 1965 and retired in 1975. The aircraft was sadly scrapped in 1976 although the cockpit managed to survive.
The cockpit is now going to Coltishall heritage centre on the 20th July 2023 to ultimately become part of their exhibitions once renovated

80 years ago tonight, 19 Lancaster Bombers, with 133 crew, took off from RAF Scampton to undertake one of the most famous raids in the history of the Royal Air Force.

8 of those aircraft did not return. 53 crew were killed. 3 were taken prisoner.

53 were killed this night. & 3 PoW.
Only 48 of that 133 would survive WW2.
The sacrifice of Bomber Command across the war is unrivalled.
