Senior Personnel Executive Jeff Morrow, whose tenure began in '98, no longer appears on the #Panthers website. If he is no longer in Carolina, it marks the 4th scout (Rob Hanrahan, Tyler Ramsey, Michael Coe) no longer w/the team as GM Dan Morgan retools the front office.

NE Area Scout Michael Coe has parted ways w/the #Panthers . Coe, who had a 7-yr playing career (plus one year in the CFL), was drafted 5/173 by the #Colts in '07 out of Alabama State FB (by way of Arkansas Razorback Football). He also won a Super Bowl w/the #Giants in '12 & has TV/radio experience.

Keith Kidd, who served as the Director of Scout Development for the #Raiders starting in 2022, has been removed from the team website. Kidd, who arrived w/former GM Dave Ziegler, previously served w/the #Cardinals , #Browns , #Patriots & #Broncos (the last two teams w/Ziegler).

Veteran #NFL scout Mark Ellenz will not be part of the #Buccaneers staff in '24. Ellenz, who joined the team in '22, has also served w/the #Jaguars (as Dir of College Scouting) as well as the #Colts (area scout). Also moving on: Alex Smith, who was Asst Director of Pro Scouting.

Meanwhile, there isn't a direct correlation between size of staff and success of team. For example, #Browns (largest scouting staff in the league) made the playoffs in '23, but #Bengals (smallest) went to the Super Bowl as recently as 2022.

One theory on why it’s been such a rocky time for veteran #NFL scouts so far: teams are increasingly eager to hire analytics staffers, as we saw last offseason. However, owners don’t want to expand their scouting budgets, so cuts are necessary.

The #Cardinals & Josh Scobey, who was finishing his 2nd yr as Dir of College Scouting, have parted ways. Scobey had been w/the team since 2010, starting as an intern after being drafted 6/185 by the Cards in 2002 out of K-State Football. Scobey also played for the #Seahawks & #Bills .

Tom Roth no longer appears on the #Titans website. Roth joined Tennessee in 2017 after 14 years with the #Bills . Roth is a graduate of Bowling Green State University.

The team continues to reconfigure its evaluation staff as GM Ran Carthon enters his second year with the team.

Joe Dever, who spent 5 seasons w/the #Browns scouting dept, won't be w/the team in '24. Dever joined Cleveland as a scouting intern in '19 and most recently served as the team's Mid-Atlantic scout. Before joining Cleveland, he coached at John Carroll Football and played at Mercyhurst Football.

As of tomorrow, we will be 90 days out from the 2024 #NFL Agent Exam. If you're registered, but haven't started studying yet, now would be a good time.

Brad Obee, who spent almost a decade w/the #Eagles over two stints, is exploring new opportunities as his contract w/Philadelphia has ended. Obee, a veteran of both pro and college scouting, also spent six years w/the #Bears and is a Penn State grad.
