Saw this guy in my house just now; before I welcome him, want to make sure he’s harmless (course he doesn’t look it). FYI I live in PA.

The fact that keeping a correct card is easy doesn’t make this a good rule. Golf supposedly respects the player enough to allow them to call a penalty on themselves, choose the correct drop, etc. Why a DQ for an unintentional math mistake? When the correct score is known by all?

It’s like paying taxes—the powers-that-be know how much you owe, but you get penalized if you get it wrong. Does the PGA, like the govt, really think players submit a wrong score intentionally, (knowing that everyone knows the right score) and it merits a DQ?

Not enough is said about the fact that, they knew his correct score—that’s how they knew he posted the incorrect one. If the correct score is known with certainty, then why DQ him for this? There’s no talent involved, and nothing competitive about an unintentional math error.

Let’s be clear: Nobody, nowhere, wants to hear your work call. Not on the range, not at the airport, not on the train, not in a restaurant. Just stop. We don’t care if you’re making the deal of the century, or it’s the Dalai himself calling. Go somewhere private & talk quietly.

And that, my fellow Philadelphia Eagles fans, is nothing but weakness on both accounts. They should have fired him, and he should have not had the opportunity to make the weak choice of “I’ll stay on whatever terms are offered, even if it’s ridiculous and doomed to failure.”
