Yes, but as a little thought experiment, consider many other things that would, if all destroyed, also not come back the same but - you would hope - be replaced by similarly good things, e.g. writing, theatre, music, painting, architecture and so on.

A) make valuable, scarce resources less scarce, 0->1 or 1->N

B) don’t totally sell out to existing capital, especially not before you start

C) don’t support people who will stop you doing A & B

Authentication on the web is an absolute dumpster fire. Honestly I'm shocked how bad it is. Vast amounts of effort go in to making things secure, but they leave gaping holes, then patch that up with layers of complexity over and over and over...
