It was a privilege to talk to voters in Everett and Bellevue about the leadership I will bring to stop out of control wildfires, and to make sure everyone has access to enjoy public land.

It was great to be back with the Clark County Farm Forestry Association.  Family Tree Farmers know the importance of responsible land management and have some of the most pristine tree stands in the state.  Thank you for what you do to preserve our lands for generations to enjoy.

In Congress, I fought hard for resources to prevent and fight wildfires.  It's disturbing that the USFS is now contemplating going backward.  I urge Congress to fully fund these crucial programs, and federal regulators to make sure they're implemented.

It was great to talk with mayors, councilors and community leaders in Snohomish county on the importance of properly managing our forests to improve air quality.

I appreciated my conversation with members of the Yakima-Klickitat Farm Bureau. Our discussion was insightful on their challenges with leases and the impact wildfires have on water quality for crops and on the ability to harvest.

20 years of air quality gains in the western U.S., undone by intensifying wildfires. We can and must do better. Managed working forests provide a solution that is better for their health and ours.
