it’s 2am. I was forced to stand outside the Barnard gates for an entire hour waiting for someone to let me in, while Barnard Public Safety told me they are “going above and beyond” by even considering allowing me into my own room for 15 minutes. I haphazardly packed & have left.

Columbia feels so dystopic. Nypd in riot gear. Our own president allowed Nypd to arrest peaceful protestors. Being an indigenous student here is just- no words. The precedent that Minouche Shafik just set is incredibly dangerous.

It's an American pastime to make fun of college students for being coddled or spoiled etc. But putting your future on the line for the sake of your fellow students in support of one of the greatest causes of liberation today is genuinely courageous stuff

“You can’t arrest us all” is actually an approach with a lot of historic precedent and success. Columbia is playing with fire by calling the NYPD on their own students.

Making students homeless and without healthcare the same day, destroying their belongings, banning them from campus, having them arrested for trespassing—this institution has far too much power to do harm to the students for whose safety it’s responsible.

Columbia has DUMPED student belongings in a FUCKING. ALLEYWAY.
