Two weeks since the wee horses galloped into existence and I feel like I’ve barely stopped grinning. Thanks for all the kind messages, support and general joy. This has been the nicest book launching experience yet #quicklywhiletheystillhavehorses

Talented North Antrim folk. Philip Taylor in Ballymena Guardian newspaper writes about the new Jan Carson short story collection. Checking it against what I look for in books:

And while I’m on here shouting about great Irish writing, I absolutely devoured Maggie Armstrong short story collection Old Romantics yesterday. Such careful, sometimes painful, frequently hilarious, always recognisable observations about humans in relationships.
Jan Carson's newest book, Quickly, While They Still Have Horses, contains the story she entered to our prize in 2021, 'A Certain Degree of Ownership.'
You can read it in Helter Skelter and get the book from Penguin Books and Simon & Schuster.
Nice review of Jan Carson ‘s “Quickly, While They Still Have Horses” on RTE.
“Carson’s characters are as sharp and acerbic in their strangeness as they are funny or extraordinary.”

Very much enjoying the Book of the Week feature on the
RTÉ website, particularly recent ones from James Conor Patterson
on Jan Carson, and the Charlotte Ryan on Sinéad Gleeson who's also interviewed here: rte.ie/radio/radio1/c…
