Before commencement, I toured Heidelberg w @UMGCpresident Fowler, UMGC Europe's Trish Coopersmith & their incredible team. It wasn't all sightseeing, tho. We visited University of Maryland Global Campus's offices & classrooms so I cld see where so much good work gets done for our military students.

Vital University System of Maryland Health Equity Convening UMD Public Health—esp. as the most vulnerable among us are increasingly the least protected: abortion rights, birth control, Medicaid, gender-affirming care, weaponized & putting lives in peril. Proud we're working instead for equity.

I met BSU royalty on the red carpet—Chief Bentil & Nalani Byrd, newly crowned Mr. & Miss Bowie State University. After-dinner treats came via pre-med student Ariana Redmond, who launched Tony's Kitchen to help her thru grief & who wants to improve mental health care for the Black community.

Last week, we honored 20 University System of Maryland faculty w/ our top award. In teaching, mentoring, scholarship, service & creative activity, they're recognized by their peers as the best of the best, whose excellence multiplies in every life touched by their work. usmd.edu/newsroom/news/…

The great thing abt University System of Maryland HQ being co-located w IMET is that you can give tours. Yesterday, Councilwoman Phylicia Porter Office of Baltimore City Council & I left the fish behind & visited Towson University's STEM Ctr, where K12 students get hands-on science ed. The bldg is often overrun w kids. Love it.
