This long grass good for butterflies story is great. But I think it's worth pointing out that 'grass' is more than just grass. There are 160 species of grass in the UK. That compares to 57 resident species of Butterfly, or indeed 32 species of Trees (ignoring the microspecies).🧵

📜 Hot off the press - MPs agree that the peat bill should move forward.

But it joins a queue and parliamentary time is short.

So unless govt ministers up the ante and drive this forward, it'll remain a good idea waiting to happen.

Today, a bill that seeks to ban peat sales in England will be introduced to parliament.

After 40 years of campaigning, could a ban on peat-based composts finally be within reach Rishi Sunak?
