I'm torn about step 1.
As a MS, cramming endlessly for that silly test was terrible.
Now, as program leadership, it's one of the few numbers we get. Schools are pass fail, and LORs are hard to trust.
I hope the answer is NOT supplemental apps or 'aptitude' tests.

But these shifts are *PURE* Pt care & offer time to connect more deeply with Pts. They can be quite re-energizing!

New pet peeve: the dominos of PO iron (which I believe is mostly worthless):
PO iron is started.
Plus laxatives (b/c it's super constipating).
Plus ascorbic acid (to acidify gut).
In spite of the PPI/H2B they're also taking.

Dear oncologist(s),
Yes, I want you to see my Pt before the bx is back.
Why?
To look them in the eyes. To talk thru the things that seem most likely. To show them a path foreward.
Certainty isn't necessary to be a Dr. (or a human) for a person going thru a tough time.

More time with patients, less time on EHR! AMA worked with CMSGov & convened coalition of 170 med societies to simplify requirements and make them clinically relevant. No more counting elements for Hx, ROS, & Exam starting in 2021! Simpler, cleaner notes.

Busy but fun day on gen med consults! Lots of services calling us for a wide range of probs (Afib, AKI, HF, cirrhosis, hypoxia, etc).
I'm convinced it's b/c we offer better customer service than many organ-based services.
No yelling or shaming, just learning & helping!

Dr. Sean Lockwood from Lexington VAMC teaching us how to be better at clinical vignettes in UK Hospitalists Grand Rounds.
High emphasis on relationship and [of course] aggressive editting.
Great content (adapted from #UKHMT ) and perfect timing.
